FOR PATENT PARALEGALS & SUPPORT STAFF
Recover internal hours on patent figures
A standardized Microsoft Visio-based workflow — with training and templates — that helps paralegals handle patent drawings confidently, even without prior drafting experience.
💡 Cloud Workspace available for Mac, iPad, and locked-down environments (browser-based access).

What Is the IP DaVinci System?
I built the IP DaVinci Patent Drawing System™ to help patent paralegals and support staff create, revise, and review patent-ready drawings in Microsoft Visio.
After 30+ years in the patent drawing ecosystem, I saw the same pattern across firms: paralegals and support staff aren’t trained in patent drawing workflows or tools. That leads to slow figure prep, revision bottlenecks, repeated markups, redraws, and unnecessary vendor dependence.
IP DaVinci solves this at the system level by combining:
- Role-based Training (so non-drafters become productive fast)
- Toolkit Templates + Stencils (so standards are enforced and routine figure tasks become fast)
- DaVinci Cloud Workspace (Windows + Visio in the browser for Mac/locked-down IT)
- Studio Services (outsourcing for complex, time-sensitive, or overflow work)
The result is faster turnaround, cleaner and more consistent figures, fewer revision loops, and lower vendor load — because staff can handle more figure work directly in the editable Visio source file.
Training (Starter Package)
Structured, role-based training that teaches the essential Visio skills, patent drawing standards, and figure-specific drawing techniques needed to produce patent-ready drawings within a standardized system.
Toolkit (Starter Package)
Visio templates and stencils that enforce patent-ready standards while accelerating figure creation and keeping drawings consistent and editable across matters.
Maintenance & Support (Annual)
Optional annual plan that keeps the Toolkit current, provides drawing/system support, and includes Studio credits.
DaVinci Cloud Workspace (Optional)
Managed Windows + Visio in the browser when local installs aren’t practical (Mac, iPad, Linux, locked-down environments).
Studio (Optional)
Expert drawings for complex or time-sensitive cases — fully compatible with the same system.
What support staff achieve with one shared drawing system
Consistency first. Speed follows.
Reduce coordination and follow-up work
A shared, standardized figure workflow reduces the daily back-and-forth that slows prosecution and consumes staff time.
- Cleaner inventor intake (less guessing, fewer emails)
- Fewer vendor follow-ups and clarification loops
- Less rework caused by inconsistent inputs
Handle routine updates immediately
When figures stay editable in the Visio source file, paralegals can support quick updates without waiting on redraw cycles.
- Renumbering and callout edits in minutes
- Same-day revisions for OA responses
- Faster turnaround on minor claim-driven changes
Keep drawings clean and compliant
Templates and stencils enforce consistent formatting so routine figures don’t become quality issues.
- Consistent line weights, fonts, margins, and labels
- Fewer cleanup cycles before filing
- More predictable output across matters
Scale support without breaking the team
Standardization makes figure work easier to delegate and train—so the practice can grow without adding chaos.
- New staff ramp faster with a repeatable workflow
- More work handled in-house without overload
- Vendors used only for complex or overflow needs
Where support staff use the system
Across drafting, review, and prosecution.
Routine Figure Creation
Create clean, consistent figures using standardized pages, stencils, and formatting — instead of rebuilding layouts from scratch.
Attorney Review Updates
Apply markups and requested changes directly in the same editable file, reducing review cycles and turnaround time.
Office Actions & Amendments
Update drawings quickly as claims evolve — without restarting the file or sending routine changes out to vendors.
Vendor Coordination (When Needed)
Provide vendors cleaner, standardized inputs — and reserve vendor time for complex figures instead of routine sheets.
SYSTEM ADOPTION
The Default Adoption Path
Start with the system. Add support or services only when needed.
The IP DaVinci System Adoption Path:
- Start with the Starter Package, which includes Training and the Toolkit.
- Keep Maintenance & Support active annually to receive Toolkit updates, system support, and Studio credits.
- Add Cloud Workspace only when local installs aren’t practical (Mac, iPad, Linux, locked-down IT).
- Use Studio only when you want drawings done for you.
Start with the Starter Package
Everything you need to adopt the system and produce patent drawings yourself.
- ✔ Training to learn the workflow.
- ✔ Toolkit with templates and stencils.
- ✔ One-time purchase. You keep what you receive.
Add Maintenance & Support
Optional annual plan for active production use.
- ✔ Toolkit updates and refinements.
- ✔ Drawing and system support.
- ✔ Studio credits included.
Add Cloud Workspace when installs aren’t practical
Run Windows + Visio in the browser for mixed-device or locked-down environments.
- ✔ Ideal for Mac, iPad, Linux, and restricted IT setups.
- ✔ Keeps the same system and file compatibility.
Use Studio when you want drawings done for you
Delegate complex, high-volume, or time-sensitive work.
- ✔ Uses the same system.
- ✔ No redraw or compatibility issues.
Why this matters: You only pay for what you actually need. Own the system outright, keep it current when you’re actively using it, and delegate only when it makes sense.
How support teams typically adopt IP DaVinci
Standardize with the Starter Package
Train the paralegal/support workflow and deploy the Toolkit so routine figures become fast, repeatable, and consistent.
Keep it current with Maintenance & Support
Optional annual coverage provides toolkit updates and help for edge cases, so the workflow stays consistent across matters.
Add Cloud or Studio when access/capacity is the constraint
Use Cloud Workspace when devices or IT policies limit Visio access, and Studio when you want complex or overflow drawings handled for you.
What support teams say
“Routine figures are finally repeatable — I’m not rebuilding pages every time.”
— Patent Paralegal
“Attorney revisions go faster because changes stay in one editable file.”
— IP Assistant
“The templates removed the guesswork and made output consistent across matters.”
— Senior Paralegal
